The Revolutionary Core
The University of Massachusetts Amherst has a reputation that would be enviable in any location other than where it is: the state that is also home to Harvard University, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts and Brandeis universities, Amherst, Williams, Smith, Mount Holyoke and Wellesley colleges. By a wide margin it is the best public university in the Northeast U.S., but it is located in the most competitive, education-rich landscape on Earth. As a result, it is often overlooked, despite having many programs and facilities superior to those of the private schools in the region. Our mission: to drive consideration, application and yield numbers.
From the founding days of the colony, Massachusetts has been on the front lines of the fight for freedom: from independent thought to social activism to cultural tolerance and beyond. At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, just as throughout the Commonwealth, we embrace and promote these issues as essential components of personal transformation and civic good. The advancement of our individual and collective freedoms comes with the responsibility to defend them against forces that would limit them in any way. Our university will be a force in the preservation of that which we hold most dear, because upholding our inalienable rights makes a better world for all.
